School anxiety shows up in many different ways. Some children feel sick the night before. Some refuse to get dressed. Some have meltdowns at the school gate.
Sample script — school anxiety
Based on: "I'm really worried about school tomorrow. I'm scared I'll get picked to read out loud and I'll mess up. My stomach feels tight and I keep thinking I'll embarrass myself in front of everyone."
Starting SUDS: 7/10
Setup statement (Karate Chop — say 3 times):
"Even though I feel so worried and scared about school tomorrow and my stomach feels tight, I release and let this go."
Round 1:
- Top of Head: All this worry about school tomorrow
- Eyebrow: I feel so scared about reading out loud
- Side of Eye: This fear that I'll mess up in front of everyone
- Under Eye: All this anxiety in my stomach
- Under Nose: I'm scared I'll embarrass myself
- Chin: This tightness in my stomach won't go away
- Collarbone: It's safe to let this worry go
- Under Arm: I release and let go of this fear
Then check SUDS. If still above 1, Nova builds a new script automatically from your child's journal entry and continues until they reach 0 or 1.
