Using Nova

Nova is the AI EFT guide at the heart of The Journal Tapping Method. Here is everything you need to know to get the most from every session.

What Nova does
"Nova reads every word you write and builds your tapping script from your own language. That's the whole secret."

When you use Nova, you are following The Journal Tapping Method in digital form. You write about what is happening — in your own words, with as much or as little detail as you want — and Nova creates a tapping script built entirely from what you wrote.

This is why the method works so well. Generic tapping scripts don't reach the right places. But when the phrase at each tapping point uses your exact words — the words your nervous system produced — the emotional charge releases.

Nova delivers all 3 rounds in one response. You don't tap one round and wait. She gives you the full script, you tap through all three rounds, then she asks for your SUDS score. If it's above 1, she builds a brand new script from your words immediately. She never stops until you reach 0 or 1.

Hi! I'm Nova — your Journal Tapping Method guide. 🌟

Write about what's going on and how you're feeling. I'll build your tapping script from your own words.
I'm really nervous about my presentation tomorrow. My stomach feels sick and I keep thinking I'll forget everything and everyone will laugh at me.

I can hear how real this feels. A SUDS of 8 — let's bring that down. Here's your script, built from your exact words...

Round 1 Setup (3×): Even though I'm really nervous about tomorrow and my stomach feels sick, I release and let this go.

Top of Head: All this nervousness about tomorrow...
How a session works

Step by step

Here is exactly what happens when you open Nova and start a session.

1
Choose your track
Select whether you are doing a child or teen session (My session) or a parent session. Both use the same method — the language Nova uses adjusts for your track. Children need the monthly password before their session begins.
2
Write your journal entry
Tell Nova what is happening. Write about what happened, how you feel emotionally, and what you notice in your body. The more specific you are, the more personal your tapping script will be. You are not writing for anyone else to read — write the truth, in your own words, without softening it.
You don't need perfect sentences or correct spelling. Write whatever comes out. Nova reads every word and uses your exact language throughout every script.
3
Nova asks for your SUDS
After reading your entry, Nova asks you to rate the intensity of the feeling on a scale of 0–10. 0 is completely calm, 10 is the most intense feeling you can imagine. Choose the first number that pops into your head — don't overthink it.
4
Nova delivers all 3 rounds
Nova builds your tapping script from your exact words and delivers all 3 rounds at once. Work through every round — tap each of the 9 points 7–10 times while saying the phrase. Either side of the body works equally well.
Tap slowly and rhythmically. Read each phrase as you tap. You can say it quietly, say it in your head, or just focus on the words. Let yourself feel the memory — don't push it away.
5
Nova checks your SUDS
After all 3 rounds, Nova says: 'That was 3 rounds. Let's check your SUDS score now.' Take a slow breath in, notice how the feeling has shifted, and give your new number.
A drop of even 1 point means emotional energy has moved. Sometimes the number stays the same but feels less sharp. Sometimes the body shifts before the mind does.
6
Continue until 0 or 1
If your SUDS is still above 1, Nova immediately builds a new 3-round script from your words and continues. This repeats until you reach 0 or 1 — which means the nervous system has processed the experience. Nova never stops before that point.

The monthly password

Before a child or teen can start a session, they need to enter the monthly password. This is a simple word and number that changes each month.

The password is shared with members each month in their membership area and newsletter. It means you as a parent always know the session is happening with your awareness.

Parent sessions do not require a password — they start immediately.

Tips from Michelle

Write more, not less
The more detail you give in your journal entry, the more personal and effective the tapping script will be. Don't summarise — describe. Include feelings, body sensations, and the exact thoughts going through your head.
Don't soften the words
Write the raw truth. Don't add 'but it wasn't that bad' or 'I know I shouldn't feel this way.' The emotional charge needs to come to the surface to be released. Nova will work with whatever you give her.
Trust the SUDS
The number doesn't lie. Even if you feel you should feel better, trust what your body gives you. A slow drop is still a drop. A drop of 1 point means something has shifted.
🌿
Do the parent session first
If your child is struggling and you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed about it, do a parent session first. Your regulated nervous system is the greatest gift you can give your child in that moment.
Find a quiet space
Sessions work best when you won't be interrupted. If your child is doing their session independently, give them privacy. The writing is personal and they don't need to share it with anyone.
Use it regularly
The Journal Tapping Method works best when used consistently. Even a short session on a low SUDS day builds resilience and teaches the nervous system that it's always safe to release.
Common questions

Using Nova — FAQs

What age is Nova suitable for?
Nova's child and teen track is designed for ages 9–18. Children under 9 may find the writing step difficult, though some younger children use it with parent support. The parent track is for adults.
Does my child have to share what they write?
No. What your child writes in Nova is private. You do not need to read it and they do not need to show it to anyone. The whole point is that children can process their feelings safely without having to explain everything out loud.
What if the SUDS doesn't drop?
Sometimes it takes more than one session to move a deeply held feeling. If the SUDS isn't moving after several rounds, check your child hasn't shifted to a different issue in their head. If the focus has changed, start a fresh session on the new issue. For very old or complex memories, the Personal Peace Procedure — working through one memory at a time over multiple sessions — is the most effective approach.
Can children use Nova on their own?
Yes — that's one of the most important things about this method. Once a child understands the process, they can work through sessions independently. Many children aged 11 and above find this empowering. Younger children often do their first few sessions with a parent nearby.
What if my child doesn't want to do it?
Don't force it. The method works best when a child comes to it willingly. Parents doing their own sessions regularly is often the biggest motivator — children see the process being normalised and become curious. Sometimes starting with the tapping points guide or a low-stakes topic helps.
What is the Personal Peace Procedure?
The Personal Peace Procedure is a members feature where you build a private list of memories, events, and triggers you want to work through over time. You add a title for each one — just a reminder for yourself — then when you're ready, you tap on it in Nova. Over months, you can track which memories have reached 0 and which still need work.
